General Legal Support for Publicans

Sound legal advice is required by every business irrespective of size and the sector the business is engaged in. This need is not just as a one-off requirement, but throughout the business lifespan from its inception; in its dealings with its personnel, suppliers, sub-contractors and customers; in respect of its ownership, development and occupation of property, in its acquisition and disposal of assets; in its dealings with its bankers, insurers, neighbours, the general public, regulatory authorities and the government in its daily course of trading.

Companies, institutions and organisations with substantial resources have an in-house legal department specifically to help them attain their goals as well as protect them against the evolving and proliferating risks inherent in the commercial environment.

Independent publicans without an in-house legal department are just as exposed to the same risks and opportunities in the commercial environment but without the same protection. Proceeding without the benefit of sound legal advice often leads to disastrous consequences. As such, some independent publicans will resort to seeking legal advice on a piece meal and ad hoc basis, often too late in the course of a matter and therefore at significant higher costs.

IPSU provides independent publicans with the support of a specialist legal team that is flexible and fully integrated with their operations. The net effect is that independent publicans will in essence gain the benefits of their own in-house legal team but without the sunk overheads of a legal department or the higher legal costs of purchasing piece meal legal advice.

With the leadership of Samuel Okoronkwo, an industry specialist legal counsel, Mercantile Barristers IPSU will adopt a dedicated approach that is always to articulate creative and value adding solutions for supporting independent publicans.

Independent publicans will always be advised on how to conduct their transactions and affairs in ways that are cost effective and avoid conflict and disputes. However, should a dispute become inevitable, then Mercantile Barristers IPSU’s prior involvement would have assured that all the necessary precautions have been taken and mitigating steps adopted. Thus, independent publicans will begin any dispute resolution in a strong position to achieve their desired objectives.

Whether by negotiation, mediation, adjudication, arbitration, litigation, Mercantile Barristers’ IPSU will adopt a firm, swift and decisive approach to achieve the best possible results for independent publicans within the shortest possible time.
