EXPERIENCED LITIGATION SOLICITOR

Mercantile Barristers is a new type of Commercial Barristers’ Chambers that is located in Gray’s Inn with members that have established practices in commercial litigation, company, construction, property, estates and sports law. We primarily provide full circle legal services on both contentious and non-contentious matters directly for businesses, professionals and high net worth individuals. We also accept instructions on referral from solicitors in the traditional manner.

 

To assist with our increasing case load and structured expansion we now require an Experienced Litigation Solicitor to join our team on a permanent basis.

 

Reporting to the Head of Chambers, the successful candidate will be specifically responsible for working in conjunction with a Barrister to maintain full litigation case management from pre-action conduct through to trial and appeal where necessary in compliance with the Civil Procedure Rules.

 

This role would suit an enthusiastic litigator with ability to work in a team with Counsel. Candidates must not be set in their ways and should be IT literate with great written and oral communication skills with no less than 5 years PQE. They should also have a smart professional appearance, friendly manner, be very flexible, innovative and forward thinking.

Our Head of Chambers maintains an active case load as well as responsibility for the strategic management of Chambers business and ensuring that our profit targets are delivered consistently.

 

To assist with our increasing workload and structured expansion we now require an Experienced Legal Secretary to join our team on a permanent basis to support our Head of chambers in the efficient discharge of his duties both to Chambers and to Clients.

 

The role will involve all aspects of support in litigation case management from pre-action conduct through to trial and appeal where necessary in compliance with the Civil Procedure Rules. Additionally, the successful candidate will be a good administrator and organiser.  Previous exposure to practice management involving any aspect of either recruitment, personnel, facilities, marketing or accounts co-ordination will be an advantage although not a pre-requisite.

Legal Internship

Mercantile Barristers is a modern Commercial Barristers’ Chambers in Gray’s Inn at the heart of legal London.  We are offering a Legal Internship of 3-6 months for a suitably qualified candidate who is hoping to join the legal profession in future.

Chambers provides full advisory and litigation services to solicitors in the traditional way but more so to company directors, professionals and private clients directly on a public access basis.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity of working directly with an experienced and busy Barrister on live cases and may participate in case preparation including undertaking legal research, attending court hearings and client conferences.  Additionally they may also participate in various aspects of legal administration, practice management, seminars and promotional activities.

The ideal candidate should already have been educated to degree level and may or may not have undertaken the vocational stage of legal training.  Previous experience of working in a law firm or barristers chambers is not a pre-requisite but will be an advantage.
